Summary:
This is the eleventh build following the release of Act 1. This build is not recommended for new players. New players should use v1.10 (currently live on Steam). This v1.11 Beta Build is the first build in a series of occasional experimental builds that can be used to preview new features, but may contain some game breaking bugs. On Steam, a new "beta" branch will be created so Steam players can check it out there.

We have been busy with localization, so I apologize that I couldn't show off anything more interesting. But I'm fixing bugs more quickly now (v1.12 will arrive within a month as a legit bug fix build) and I'm looking at getting new features done soon. Thanks for your patience and support! =}

Here are the changes made since the last release (v1.10.000)...

New features:

  • New Options Screen UX (added between v1.10.000 & v1.10.044)

  • This is not a full redesign. I just wanted to move some things around to make the description easier to read, which is important in English and other languages, as well as playing on Android and Steam Deck. This is just one part of many changes I made to accommodate the 13 additional languages we plan to add! (I'd like to give you all a preview of the localization work next month.)

  • Android note: It's currently difficult to tap on the value selection arrows (""). I've already prepared a fix for the next version, v1.12!

Known issues:

  • The game may freeze (soft-lock) after beating Bates.

  • The game may freeze after the ending cutscene.

  • These issues may occur intermittently.

  • This bug reappeared while adding code for localization into different languages. We are still trying to find a solution for this. (If you encounter this issue, please send us a debug log!)

  • Enabling and disabling touch controls will not immediately restore the mouse cursor if it was visible before.

(The following known issues for v1.11 already have fixes prepared for the next version, v1.12.)

  • Android: Option screen value selection arrows are difficult to press.

  • Clicking/tapping on a value selection arrow makes the category name invisible (black text on black background).

  • When entering an area and then pausing the game, the area name overlays the pause menu.

  • On the title screen, entering and exiting the options screen makes the "Options" text on the title screen bigger and bigger.

  • Title screen back button:

  • The title screen back button is difficult to click/tap on (only visible with touch controls enabled or mouse cursor visible when paused).

  • This button is going away in the next version. Starting in v1.12, you can click/tap the "Oh So Hero! Act 1 Main Menu" corner banner to return to the initial "Oh So Hero!" title screen.

Summary:
This is the tenth build following the release of Act 1. This build finalizes Joe's Throw Moves! This is a feature we've been hinting about for the past several months, and has come out of beta since v1.09. We hope you enjoy yeeting those opponents as much as you enjoy romancing them~ We also have new idle/walking animations, gallery improvements, and various fixes. We expect to have news of upcoming work to share with patrons/substars before the end of the month. In the meantime, please enjoy this new v1.10 build of Oh So Hero!

Here are the changes made since the last release (v1.09.002)...

New features:

  • Joe's Throw Moves! (Now out of beta~)

  • Throw DOWNED ENEMIES and CRATES in one of multiple directions: DOWN or to either SIDE!

  • Hold down the Tactical Stance button and press Down to Down Throw, or Left/Right to Side Throw.

  • Tactical Stance defaults to R1/RB on a controller, or F on the keyboard.

  • Tactical Stance will be expanded upon in future acts.

  • Joe's Throw Moves are now enabled by default. They can be turned on and off in the Skills menu.

  • The Beta Throw Moves setting in the Options screen has been removed.

  • The Throw Moves skill is granted by a new item, Weighted Shorts, which Joe starts with by default in both new and existing saves. View it in the Inventory or Skills screen for additional info.

  • Thrown enemies now collide with solid objects and enemy blockers (invisible barriers) such as the enemy gauntlet boundaries.

  • The Tactical Stance button has been added to Android Touch Controls (needed for Throw Moves).

  • Ryuta has a new idle animation (by Arty & Red).

  • Trailer Mode

  • The Trailer Mode feature has returned! This was originally added during development to aid in creating trailers for the game.

  • Press T on the keyboard to hide the HUD/UI, and press it again to restore the interface.

  • Trailer Mode is not bound to controllers by default, but you can bind it in the Key Bindings screen.

  • Trailer Mode has no effect in the Pause Menu or Options screen.

Improvements & bug fixes:

  • Downed Enemy Glow

  • Enemies that have been knocked down but have HP remaining (Downed state) are now outlined with a yellow glow. This is useful for multiple reasons:

    1. It indicates you can throw this opponent (down or to the side).
    1. It indicates you can have sex with this opponent to get loot gems.
  • By contrast, sex with a KO'ed (stars VFX) opponent grants no loot gems.

    1. The glow oscillates and fades based on the downed time, providing a visual timer for when the opponent will get back up!
  • Enemy Gauntlets

  • Enemies that are spawned inside a gauntlet and manage to escape through collision foolery are instantly knocked out to prevent soft locks.

  • There is a known issue where this sometimes doesn't happen (T#254).

  • Gallery

  • Added a lock icon to gallery entries that are unlocked at 100% gallery completion (Brask's Palace is the only one at this time).

  • Added entity completion stars next to gallery entity names.

  • A solid star (★) means all animations are unlocked for an entity.

  • A hollow star (☆) means some animations are unlocked for an entity.

  • A question mark (?) means no animations are unlocked for an entity.

Summary:

This is the eighth build following the release of Act 1, and the last build of 2025! We'll be back with more Act 1 updates in 2026, including localization and a new feature (to be announced), with news of Act 2 to follow. For now, we have a new NPC (Ryuta) with a new sex animation, a newly included bonus animation, control enhancements, input glyphs, and bug fixes!

  • Find him in Super Import Tech And More in Lood City West Avenue! You can have fun with this ol' tanuki in a brand new sex animation~

  • New Bonus Animation: Brask's Palace Lono'e Orgy

  • This is actually an oldie-but-goodie animation that was never included in the game until now!

  • You can view it in the Gallery after achieving 100% base Act 1 animations ("I've Seen Everything" achievement). You'll find it in the Environmental section, under Brask's Palace (new).

  • Controller & Keyboard Input Glyphs

  • The game now has proper controller and keyboard input glyphs (via Rewired). This includes support for Xbox, PlayStation, and Nintendo Switch (Pro Controller) button symbols. The game will automatically adapt to whichever controller you're using. Nintendo Switch 2 controllers may be supported as well, but are currently untested.

New features:
Voyeur System + 11 New Animations!
This is a system we originally planned a while ago! While it doesn't actually affect gameplay, it makes the sex scenes even more fun as competitors on the sidelines who don't join in can still enjoy the experience~
Red & Arty created 11 new animations! All of the following enemies now have voyeur animations:
Daku, Amaru, Lono'e, Goliath, Gatis, O'Deere, Stier, Signal, Bax, Puca, and Haya!
You can see these animations whenever you encounter a group of enemies close together (or if you're swooned just outside the grab range of a stationary enemy such as Goliath).
Once you view the animations, you can see them again at any time in the Gallery!
The voyeur system is a brand new feature, so keep in mind there are still a few small issues we plan to iron out in upcoming builds.
Updated Animations: Amaru & Joe x4!
Amaru's FOUR sex animations with Joe are updated with new versions that include additional segments and improved detail!
If you had unlocked these animations previously, you now have both the revised and original (legacy) versions unlocked. The same applies when unlocking these animations going forward.
(Legacy animations are available in the Gallery along with their revised versions when unlocked.)
Less Lewd Mode (Feature Preview)
This is an experimental filter that can be enabled in the Options. It will attempt to remove all sex from the game, though there will still be some nudity. Less Lewd Mode is not intended for normal gameplay as it removes many features core to our design, but it can be used to demo the game. (We recommend you restart the game any time you turn Less Lewd Mode On or Off to ensure the setting takes full effect.)
In its current state, when Less Lewd Mode is On, certain disclaimers will be removed, the Gallery will be inaccessible, the Pre-Game Story cutscene will be skipped, Ali's Surf Shack will be inaccessible, and (most importantly) many references and mechanics relating to lust and sex will be bypassed or disabled. There is still lewd dialogue with some NPCs, though you cannot have sex with them. The Bates victory cutscenes still contain some nudity, but the ending sex scene will be invisible (albeit audible). As it stands, Less Lewd Mode is not a fully complete feature, but we will be revising it in future updates for a more consistent experience.
Gallery Cutscene Animations (Feature Preview)
Cutscene animations, i.e. Ket's secret animation and the various Bates cutscenes, are now available to view in the Gallery! (They must first be unlocked by viewing these cutscenes in-game, if you haven't already done so.) This is a feature preview, meaning there's a bit missing from its current functionality. The Gallery cutscenes contain only the foreground animations and sound effects, not any background elements or text dialogue. We'll work on adding the rest in future updates.
You can access these cutscenes through the environments section of the Gallery, specifically Sheo Islands Beach and Lood City Park. (See also: T#151/T#198.)
Returning Animation (Legacy Animation): Joe's Swooned Fap v1
This is Joe's original swooned fap animation that was replaced with the newly updated animation in v1.04. You can now view the classic animation in the Gallery as a legacy animation~
Improvements & bug fixes:
Gallery UI Refresh
We've improved certain aspects of the UI, animated menu selections, improved menu scroll functionality, cleaned up some graphical artifacts, and re-aligned elements to make it all more sleek. Character and environment animations also have new short names for easier identification (e.g. "LGC1"). There are still a few outstanding issues that need to be addressed in the future updates, but we hope you enjoy the improved Gallery experience!
Animation Memory Optimization (Asset Pack Indexing)
Daku Legacy animations are now only loaded in memory for the Gallery, not during gameplay. The same goes for the Amaru Legacy animations, and all Legacy animations now and onwards.
Future memory improvements will build on this feature.

  • You can find him outside Cas's House! He has a new animation!

  • Android & touch-specific: Gallery camera controls Zoom In/Out and Pan now work as touch controls!

  • They also work with a mouse if you are playing with a mouse and keyboard. Make sure to tap on the icon, not the text; the tappable area is tight, but we'll look to improve this in the future.

New features:

  • A new piece of environmental art, a street art mural, now adorns the section of Lood City W. Ave. near Octo's Sushi Place, exactly where the enemy gauntlet is located for this area.

Improvements & bug fixes:

  • Another possible fix for Bates Encounter Lock-Up T#184.

  • By manipulating save data in a particular manner, we were able to reproduce the bug and create a fix for it. We are unsure if there are other causes for this bug, but will be monitoring reports and taking action as needed.

  • Possible fix for issue where defeating Bates is not triggering his defeat cutscene T#211.

  • While we were not able to reproduce this bug, our fix for T#184 may mitigate this. Please email us error logs and save data if you are still experiencing this bug!

  • ANDROID ONLY: We have disabled the prototype/private build disclaimer screens that are shown when starting the game T#210.

  • When starting a new game and viewing the intro cutscene (pre-game story) Joe will not be controllable, so pressing buttons will not create sound effects of Joe punching or performing other actions T#158.

  • When viewing animations in the gallery, the entity (character or environment) name atop the animation menu is now properly formatted (e.g., "Lono'e" instead of "Lonoe") T#167.

  • ANDROID ONLY: We have disabled the test controls (debug controls) as was done for the builds of other platforms upon the launch of Act 1. Other notes:

  • STEAM ONLY (.001): It has been reported that the Steam version of the game is not properly showing the PlayStation button glyphs when using a DualShock or DualSense controller, even though we have built-in support for this that works properly on non-Steam builds. We have adjusted the Steam Input settings in an attempt to fix this. Please let us know in the Steam discussion boards if you experience any problems.

  • We're continuing to make progress on localization. You may notice a Language setting in the Options menu. Currently "English -US-" is the only option available for this, so don't get too excited just yet! We'll make sure to let you know whenever a new language becomes available~

  • Set the "Bates_Joe_PSP2" animation (the late-phase Joe-initiated primary sex animation) as recordable (unlockable) so it can be marked as played and viewed in the Gallery without having to defeat Bates first.

This build adds some new quality of life gameplay features and fixes some known issues. We will continue to round out the features of Act 1 in upcoming versions.   • New Items: TheOne™ Cock Ring, Lazurlite Mirror, & Red Key Card!

  • TheOne™ Cock Ring can be obtained in Hamill's room, which is the top-left room in Hiroto Dojo. This JO Cock Ring will allow Joe to use the Fap On Command skill (see further below).

  • The Lazurlite Mirror can be obtained by speaking to Brask in Brask's Palace. He has new dialogue explaining its use, which is essentially to warp the player back to the starting location of Sheo Islands Beach. This key item can be used in the Inventory Screen over and over as many times as the player likes.

  • The Red Key Card can be obtained in the east building of Hiroto Dojo and will be usable in an upcoming update.

  • NOTE: The Cock Ring and Red Key Card are currently using placeholder item models. Final item models are coming soon!

  • New Skill: Fap On Command!

  • By obtaining TheOne™ Cock Ring and pressing Down + Sex, Joe will use Fap On Command! This will max his LP to 100% and make him enter the swooned state. This lust-raising ability is the official replacement for the "L" debug key that has been popular with many players. Go find TheOne™ Cock Ring and JO!

  • New Environmental Trap: Pitfall

  • This trap is currently used in Hiroto Dojo. Similar to the Water Hazard used in the Forbidden Bayou, the Pitfall will damage Joe and cause him to respawn to the side of the trap. In essence, it's a hole, and if you've ever played a classic Castlevania, you've surely been in one! While the pitfall costs a bit of HP, it prevents the player from losing progress if they fall off the rooftops of Hiroto Dojo.

  • Newly Implemented Music: "Theme of Kaylee"

  • This track by Cilantro & Ket Ralus currently plays in Ali's Surf Shack. We had already finished this theme earlier with intent to use it in an establishing conversation with Kaylee, but we've decided to postpone her proper introduction to Act 2. The music is used in Ali's for now, where Kaylee resides in the interim, but will be moved elsewhere in a future version.

  • The Inventory Screen has been improved with multiple pages, the ability to use items, expanded item descriptions, updated graphics, and more (see next section for details).

  • The Gallery Animation Menunow has custom distinct symbols for animations, a new animation order, and other UI improvements (see next section for details).

This is not a bug, but rather an overdue correction to ensure consistency between platforms going forward. See the save data wiki entry for more details.

  • Menu wraparound doesn't work properly for two items.

  • This bug was introduced several versions ago, but a root cause was just now discovered. A fix is already prepared for the next build.

  • In the meantime, please do not buy the Fruit Drink! If you do it by accident, wait for the buff to expire before leaving the area and quitting the game. Saving with the buff active can corrupt your save file!

  • If you have a corrupted file, don't delete it. You can uncorrupt the file by going to your save datadirectory and editing the file with a text editor to remove the "BuffIcon" portion as shown here: Yes, I accidentally stuffed texture data in the save file. Sorry!

  • Alternatively, you can wait until we release the next build and you will be able to load this file normally~

  • Dialogue menus selection issue (Possible soft lock)

  • Dialogue/Teleporter menu selection affected by invisible cursor

When Bates is knocked down and Joe initiates sex in either of these phases, you’ll see a new animation. There is one animation when Bates is 0-99% lust, and another animation when Bates is 100% lust (magenta tint).

  • If you’ve already beat Bates in a previous version, you’ll need to beat him again to unlock these animations.

Hi everyone! June was a slow month for me since I was traveling for a couple weeks, but it’s my last trip of 2024 until our presence at ACFI (more news on that later!). While I was out, I met with a friend to create sound effects for Bates, and I learned some audio plug-ins to make more sounds on my own. I then got back into the programming to implement Red’s new animations for Bates and add a full gallery unlock cheat code, which is especially useful for those playing on Android!
I’m ready to get firmly into work-mode, so starting with this post, I’m going to list my recently completed tasks and upcoming priorities. I will update these lists in subsequent posts as a way for you to track my progress across the months.

Hey everyone! Hope you are all doing well. It was a bit difficult to work early in June due to tooth extractions but I'm back on the ball. I'm wrapping up all the cutscene stuff in the next two weeks in this order:

  • Bates Intro Story Animation 90% completed

  • Bates Victory Story Animation 60% completed

  • Bates Game Over Animation 60% completed

New features:

  • Bates has a new Dive Grab move with its own sex animation. This may be new to you!

  • The sex animation was previously accessible only through the Gallery after defeating Bates.

  • This move is introduced in Phase 3 and is upgraded in subsequent phases.

  • Bates’s Sun Flame desperation attack has been updated with a new part added to the end of it!

  • The desperation attack is used once at the beginning of Phase 5.

  • Bates’s Smash attack (blue flames) has been updated with a revised hitbox and a new Phase 5 upgrade.

  • This option stopped working at some point in the past; possibly during a Unity upgrade. It should be fine now (with some caveats listed in the option description).

  • Rather than simply “Full Screen: On or Off" we now provide all Unity-supported full screen mode options, including borderless window and exclusive full screen.

Hello, everyone! We got a new build for you with a couple new features.
Bates has a new move, Fire Pellets, which spawns patterns of flaming bullets. Bates starts using this in Phase 3, and adds new patterns in Phases 4 and 5. It’s a bit buggy in this build, but I should have the jank ironed out next time, and I’ll try to improve the performance as well. By the way, one of these patterns tests your ability to hang in the air longer by using one of Joe’s abilities. Which move do you think it is?
Bates still has more work to be done. We have one last move to add to Bates (Dive Grab), and even more animations. That will come later.
This build introduces a new NPC, Dyabal, and a new environment for him. Take a look!
This build also has its music updated to the mastered soundtrack. Check your music volume levels!
As stated before, we’ll be doing a major sound effects update, which I hope to complete in the coming months. In a future version, I would also like to add an in-game music player to the Gallery.

  • You can find and fight Bates in Lood City Park (see further below).

  • This is a beta version of Bates. We have most of his moves and sex animations implemented, and you can battle him in a form close to what we have intended. Bates operates a bit differently from normal enemies. For example, when he reaches 100% lust, he is not swooned, but has a defense debuff applied.

  • After you beat Bates, go right to read a sign with a special message, and then check the Gallery for all Bates animations unlocked, including a bonus animation! (We couldn’t get it in the battle just yet, but you can see it in the Gallery.)

  • We have more in the works for Bates including new and improved attacks, additional sex animations, and a post-defeat cutscene with dialogue. These updates will roll out over the coming months, and we hope you enjoy them!

  • Updated the disclaimer at the start of the game, adding a photosensitivity/epilepsy warning. We try to avoid rapidly flashing lights, but please take precautions.

  • Fixed damage numbers to display proper values when stats are modified.

  • Sex rhythm meter now has a variable target (min of 15% and max of 75%).

  • Sex rhythm meter and power struggle meter have been moved to the bottom of the screen (gameplay HUD).

  • Sex rhythm meter's button prompt will hide quickly.

  • Joe's Crescent Moon special ability will now give him iframes (invulnerability) for the full duration of this move.

  • Joe's Slide and Butt Stomp abilities now have increased recovery time at the end of the moves, and Slide's distance/speed has been modified.

Known issues:

  • Bates is incomplete and has several known issues. These will be rectified in the following updates as we complete our work. Here are the main issues:

  • Bates’s attacks have little to no sound effects. What’s there is a placeholder.

  • Some of Bates’s attacks are incomplete, and some other moves are absent.

  • Joe is able to have sex with Bates while he is downed and invulnerable between phases, though this should not be possible.

  • Bates may sometimes move bizarrely or go off screen.

  • There are no Bates Game Over animations.

  • Defeating Bates abruptly cuts back to normal gameplay with no post-defeat content (aside from the placeholder sign off to the right).

  • The Lood City Park environment needs performance optimizations.

  • Joe's Crescent Moon cooldown is irregular.

I’m happy to finally have a version of Bates available to share with you all! I still have more work cut out for me, including bug fixes and creating a bunch of new SFX (I started this a while back but had to refocus on Android).
Speaking of Android, I will be making fixes to that and more in upcoming updates!
Aside from working on Bates, we were able to address a few overdue issues with the core gameplay, such as the variable target on the sex rhythm meter, which makes successive successes both more rewarding and more challenging!
There’s probably more I can say that I’m forgetting now, but I’ll make sure to circle back and address everything mentioned previously. Thank you all for your support! =}

Hey everyone. Hope you are all doing well. Bates current state isn't final but I hope you guys can enjoy this preview. A bit of the work is not implemented yet such as dialogue, cutscenes, sound work and some missing visual effects. This will require us a couple more months to complete, but it should (mostly) be smooth sailing. I will be posting some previews on the 10th. I'm still tying a couple of loose ends here and there on the battle sprites but I think we're in a good position for the other stuff too.

There are no new animations this month since we're working hard to put the final touches on the next public demo of Oh So Hero: Pre Edition II. However, we have several previews for you in our most recent update post.

Changes made since last release (v0.14.800)...

New features:

  • Teleporters have arrived! You will need to visit a teleporter location to activate it. This will allow you to fast travel there from any other teleporter. You can find teleporters near the starting locations of Sheo Islands Beach, Southeast Beach, Brask's Palace, and Lood City! The visual design of the teleporters will change in upcoming versions, but we hope you enjoy the convenience now~

  • Drinks are in stock at the Grand Pour Bar & Grill at Smol Beach. You can use your Zenni to refill your HP/SP and optionally get a timed Buffto boost your lust resistance. In future updates we'll be providing more in-game information about the items you can buy and the stat increases they provide, but here's the rundown for now:

  • Spring Water costs 5 Zenni and fully restores all HP/SP.

  • Fruit Soda costs 10 Zenni and fully restores all HP/SP, plus provides the "Stamina Up Level 1" buff for 5 minutes, which gives Stamina +12 (less LP increase from enemy lust attacks) & Lubricity +16 (easier to break out of enemy grab power struggles).

Gameplay changes:

  • All sex and fap animations have been slowed down to 85% speed. We feel this is a more natural pace that is closer to Red's original vision. Please take a look and let us know what you think!

  • All other animations, including movement and attacks remain unchanged.

Android build progress:

  • Oh So Hero on Android is looking like a real possibility! We’ve produced an APK (Android build) that is running on a Samsung Galaxy Note 9.

  • However, this is currently unplayable because of two key reasons we still need to plan for and address:

  • No input methods. The game currently only supports physical keyboard or gamepad. We need to allow control via the touchscreen, and this involves design consideration as well as development. There’s a lot of work to be done here.

  • No copied asset bundles. The files holding the animations are not automatically packed into the APK, and thus the build can’t progress past the title screen. We’ll need time to research and develop the simplest means of getting asset bundles on the phone, and with the best possible performance.

  • Beyond that, there may be other issues we’ve not been able to see yet. Since we have other priorities right now, including the upcoming release of Pre Edition II, this may not be completed until 2021. However, we’ll keep you updated whenever we have new progress to share!

Hey guys! Here's a little preview for birb and his assistant boar! Things have been rather slow on the level building side but we’re doing our best to start importing the city assets into the game sooner rather than later!

v0.14.600

New features:

  • 2 New Game Over Animations: Southeast Beach & Brask’s Jungle.

Gameplay changes:

  • Joe’s regular attack and combo will only work when Joe is on the ground. We will be adding proper aerial attacks later.

  • After an enemy’s KO status (yellow stars) expires, they’re considered “defeated”. But instead of flickering and disappearing, enemies will now remain on screen when defeated. Future development will have their sprites reflect means of defeat (i.e. soaked in cum).

  • Various stats such as HP, damage, LP, arousal, etc. have been adjusted on Joe and all enemies for better difficulty balance.

  • Example 1: Goliath lick attack takes longer to wind up and deals less LP arousal.

  • Example 2: Joe’s slide attack deals far less damage, but still breaks boxes.

  • We added an NPC animation to Cas (beaver dude):

  • We added Basic sex sounds to animations. You can always adjust or mute in the options menu (“lewd sound volume”). They’re very early since we need a lot more time to set up for every single different animation.

  • Joe’s stats (HP, etc.) carry over from screen to screen.

Hey guys! The new update is here! It's located at the end of the jungle area. Gatis is about 70% complete and will require another update this month to be finished. He currently has 3 out of 4 of the sex animations completed, plus the solo swooned animation.

Here are the major changes since last build (v0.12.001):

  • Gatis (Swamp Gator) added to new Forbidden Bayou environment

  • New dialogue for K.Ren

  • Keep having sex at 0 HP (also, 0 HP bug fixes)

  • New Enemy Lust Meter

  • Butt Stomp enhancements

The sex animation that occurs at 100% lust for Joe will be inserted later this month, amongst some other stuff. We appreciate your patience as always!
The level itself isn't mechanically complete just yet either. It's only in a demo state for now.

Performance Test Build
If you had trouble playing Oh So Hero in the past, please give this new version a try! Not only does this have the RAM fix we've put so much time into, but it also has a complete rewrite of the animation code, which includes some small fixes here and there.

Major Changes:

  • Goliath (giant frog) fixes have been made. The animation resolution has been decreased temporarily to ease RAM usage. This will be fixed in a future update when we finish implementing the high/low quality asset bundle variants.
